ABOUT US
Welcome to the Virtual Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAFv) website, where we simulate the Royal Canadian Air Force’s daily activities and operates on the VATSIM network. We strive for the perfect balance of realism and fun in the recreation of the pilot activities of the Canadian National Defence, including partnerships with fellow vCommonwealth Realm nations (vRAF/vRAAF), and our US NORAD partners to protect the skies over Canada, and worldwide.
WHAT WE DO
RCAFv officers fit themselves into one of these five mission roles:
FIGHTER
Fighter aircraft are designed primarily to ensure control of essential airspace and deny opponents the use of that airspace. The CF-18 is the exclusive fighter jet flown by RCAFv personnel.
TRANSPORT
The RCAF Transport Teams provide strategic transportation and delivery of personnel and materiel to places throughout Canada, and the world.
TACTICAL AVIATION
The RCAF’s tactical aviation aircraft provide support to the allied ground forces by providing rapid mobility, reconnaissance and aerial firepower services.
SEARCH AND RESCUE
Search and Rescue assets prevent loss of life and injury through search and rescue alerting, responding and aiding activities, using the CH-146 Griffon (pictured) and the CH-149 Cormorant.
SURVEILLANCE
To conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, RCAFv uses the CP-140 Aurora and CH-148 Cyclone. These aircraft have advanced sensors, radars and technology to provide early warning and detection to battlefield commanders.

Serves as Chief of Air Staff; responsible to His Virtual Majesty’s Government for organization and operation of the entire Air Force.
